FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG WILL THERAPY TAKE?
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME TO THERAPY?
It depends. I do not use a prescribed formula for therapy. What happens during our time together depends on what issues and desires you bring into the session. If there is a specific issue that can be resolved quickly, often we can help find resolution in a few months. If deep healing is needed or we are exploring life transitions, sometimes the process takes longer.
Generally, sessions are scheduled once a week or once every other week depending on the depth of the issue, schedule availability for you, and financial purposes. At the beginning of therapy, I suggest at least once every 2 weeks. Later on, sometimes we spread sessions out a bit for maintenance.
CAN I CONTACT YOU BETWEEN SESSIONS?
HOW MUCH WILL THERAPY COST/INSURANCE?
I accept BCBS, United and Cigna insurance. My self-pay rate is $175 and I can provide you the paperwork necessary to file with your insurance for out of network reimbursement if available.
DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL SESSIONS?
Virtual sessions are available after a determination of whether telehealth is appropriate in your situation. If so, a mix of in person and virtual sessions can be used as needed to meet your needs.
DO YOU OFFER AFTER HOUR/WEEKEND SESSIONS?
No, my sessions all occur during regular business hours Monday-Friday.
I am available by email or text on a regular basis. If you need to adjust scheduling, you are always free to reach out and I will respond as soon as possible to work with your need. If you have an emergency between sessions, please let me know via text or email and I will work to schedule the next available time to speak with you and determine what will best meet your needs. If you have a life-threatening emergency, you will need to go to your nearest ER or call 911.
WILL THERE BE HOMEWORK?
I don’t regularly assign homework as such. I may make suggestions for activities or reading material that would be helpful between sessions.
WHAT IF I DON'T DREAM?
DO YOU SEE COUPLES?
I have a background in family systems which I bring to the work, but I do not regularly see couples at this stage of my career. I have excellent referrals for couples therapists I can offer if needed.
We all dream. There are ways to facilitate more remembering of dream material. But there are also various ways to access unconscious material if desired that don’t require remembering dreams.
IS WHAT I SAY KEPT PRIVATE?
Confidentiality in therapy is both a legal obligation and a point of integrity. What happens in therapy stays in therapy. No one will have access to your information without explicit written consent. We will discuss the limited exceptions to confidentiality in your intake session, but creating a sense of safety for your personal information is taken extremely seriously and your story will be held in the utmost confidence.
DO WE TALK ABOUT UNCOMFORTABLE TOPICS?
Therapy and analysis work on issues that are holding you back. Often these issues are difficult to look at and talk about. My goal is to create a judgment free space where you can address anything necessary for your growth, but you will never be forced to explore a topic more deeply than you are ready for in any stage of the therapeutic process.
DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH PSYCHEDELICS?
I have deep experience with holding and helping to integrate experiences of information beyond the conscious level. Whether you’ve had a spiritual experience, a sacred medicine journey, or a traumatic event - I can help explore the information you encountered. Often there are layers to integration of psychedelic journeys, some of which happen during the immediate time after the process itself, and some which take weeks and months to unfold. I do not offer psychedelic assisted therapy or facilitate the actual psychedelic experience, but I can offer space to integrate these and other experiences of reality beyond the ordinary.
